Holy cow, it's been over 2 months since my last blog post. You would think I had other things going on or something. So I guess it's about time that I catch up on our last 2 months. For our 5th Anniversary Erick and I planned a little getaway. I hadn't ever been to New York City before and I really wanted to go before we had to grow up and be adults. We had only a few days to jam pack everything we could. So the next few posts will be our days in the concrete jungle.
Day #1
WE ARRIVED!!! It was pretty bumpy on the way into LaGuardia. I had an upset stomach anyway so it wasn't too pretty once we landed.

We picked the WRONG day to arrive. The Pres was visiting one of the Fire Stations on 8th Ave that lost the most members. They shut down streets every where so the taxi we were in could only get us to Macy's on 5th Ave and about 39th Street. So we had to walk from there to our hotel on 8th and 49th and so begins our long walking adventure.

We finally got to our hotel after sweet talking a police officer into letting us thru the barricade. We settled in and sat down for a few minutes and then off we went.
Our first stop: Carnegie Deli. OH MAN!! They musta knew I was comin' A whole plate of pickles as appetizers. YES! Erick and I ordered the pastrami it was DELICIOUS!!

There were people everywhere walking around and we came upon this couple. This picture is actually a PG version of a very R-Rated thing they were doing. Absolutely no regard for who was watching.
It was actually a really nice day. There was a slight breeze and it was pretty cool. I was glad it wasn't too hot because with all the walking we were doing I was able to keep up, even with a stomach ache.

We finally went back to the hotel and we took a little nap.
We had leftovers so Erick ran them back to the hotel while I stopped at the pharmacy for a water and some tooth brushes (yep I knew I would forget something) and then we were off. We walked up to Columbus Circle, it was full of High School kids. They must have just gotten out of school for the day.
Next Stop: We walked all the way up to the Manhattan Temple. We almost past it because from the street level you can't see Moroni. The only way I knew we were there was because I saw a woman walking out with a bag full of familiar looking underwear :) So I looked up and saw the sign. We walked across the street so we could get a better view.
We walked back down a little to a side street and cut over to CPW. We saw Trump Tower where they film Celebrity Apprentice. I'm kind of a nerd so I was really excited.
We got in one of the side entrances to Central Park. It was so beautiful. In a place that has no grass anywhere and is unlike anything I've ever seen there is this calm serene place. I was really surprised at how quiet it was. In the distance there was several softball games going on and tons of people all around and it wasn't noisy at all.

We walked to the "Mall" it's such a famous place, it's in lots of movies that you don't even realize. I told Erick to look down and think of all the movies he's seen it in and all he could come up with is the spit scene in "Big Daddy" with Adam Sandler...
We walked down CPE to 5th Ave where I got to see The Plaza Hotel. But I didn't get a picture :(
We started to head back to the hotel because I was wiped out. But first we had to stop for Erick to get a slice of Pizza and me a bagel and the first of many Jamba Juices for the weekend. We saw The Ed Sullivan Theater were David Letterman is filmed.
We hit the M&M store. That was so fun. There is every color and flavor imaginable of M&M. We didn't get any :(
We got back to our hotel about 10PM. I was exhausted. We had to get up at 4AM to get to the airport in Omaha in time to make our flight. We made a little plan for the next day and I was out!
