A Sewing Fool

I have been out of control with my sewing....I've said it before and I'll say it again, bless my husbands heart for being patient with my mess. There is no TV downstairs in my sewing area and when Erick is home I want to be able to spend time in the same place so I've had my big mess on the kitchen table and surrounding area for MONTHS now.

So I've been working on a lot of projects lately. The one I've worked the longest perfecting was this little mini diaper bag wristlet. So many friends of mine are expecting babies in the next few months and I wanted to give them something personal and not completely store bought. So I thought I would make this little mini diaper bag. I watch Moms getting up in the middle of church and walking out to change their baby and they fumble with a diaper and wipes and thought there has got to be an easier way. The pouch is small enough to shove in your actual diaper bag so you can grab if you are running out to the restroom at a restaurant or church or even just for running out to the store quick, but big enough to fit a travel size wipe, 6 diapers and a few other things. I have been making these and filling them with diapers, wipes, a bink and a burp cloth (personalized of course). I think they are so cute..maybe one day i'll make one for myself. The pink one is my ABSOLUTE favorite! I wish I had a better picture. Maybe one day I'll get a better camera. So if I know you and you are having a baby...sorry you just found out what you are getting from me.

* My baby shower gifts have been this mini diaper bag, 6 diapers, a travel wipe, a personalized burp cloth and 2 binkies, all of it fits in perfectly, my next revision will be adding a pocket on the inside so you don't lose the bink*

When my mother in law was in Utah this last time I asked her to pick me up some fabric when she went to my FAVORITE fabric store. She said she sent me what I asked for and a surprise fabric. She was so excited about it. It was the most adorable Monkey "minky" I was so excited I wanted to keep it for myself, but made a blanket for one of my dear friends. It turned out really cute...She got me pink and yellow. SO FUN!

Next project are personalized burp cloths and wash cloths. The burp cloths have an appliqued initial...all have been for the last name of the family because most of the families don't have names picked out yet (and super convenient to use for the next kiddos that came along) They have had either flannel or cotton fronts and terry cloth backs. The wash cloths are matching fabric and they have little loop tabs so you have hang it on a suction cup hook in the bath tub.

My last project I tried out making a kindle/ipad sleeve. I made this cute one for my sister. She has a kindle. The one I sent her had the lighter orange buttons. When I showed it to one of my friends she said I should be a different color buttons, so I made one with dark pink buttons. Although you can't tell in the picture, the color that looks red is more of a dark pink (the inside is the solid orange from the pleats outside). It's such fun whimsical fabric. I actually bought it just to buy it and decided to make a kindle sleeve for my sis.
