This year (like any other year) because of now our work schedules instead of school schedules we were planning on spending Thanksgiving in Las Vegas. This was also Avery's first Thanksgiving!! A few days before Thanksgiving Erick's grandpa called and said they would be at their Mesquite house alone with Monica's family for Thanksgiving and wanted us to come up. We were excited to be able to spend Thanksgiving for the first time with some family and since it was only about an hour and half drive we would be able to go up and back within the day so Erick could go to work the next day.
I had a lot of anxiety though, we had never made more then about a 30 minute car ride with Avery and the possibility of 90 minutes of screaming made me sick.
We packed alot of snacks and loaded up the ipad with movies and off we went. She did so good until the last 10 minutes when she was just done with being in the car.
We had a few snacks when we got there. On this particular day Avery was on an Orange kick and everyone got a big laugh out of it. Oranges, Cheddar Cheese, Bunnies
She loved Grandpa Ron
It was a beautiful day, not too cold and the sun was out. The Sayers new house is up towards the side of the mountain so it was pretty quiet.
Watching her cousins play on the grass
Family picture by the golf course.
Avery's Thanksgiving dinner.
Trying to decide if she's gonna like it or not.
After dinner Avery really needed a nap, but won't sleep anywhere but her crib or her car seat so we went for a tour around Mesquite (thank heavens McD's was open, I had to have a Diet Coke)
While we were gone everyone was taking turns in the 4 wheeler thinga-ma-jig...I kinda wanted to have nothing to do with being a passenger in that thing. When we got back I saw headlights coming down the street and figured it was Brandon bringing one of the girls back
Much to my surprise and well not really surprise it was Erick and Katie...that explained the shrills, shrieks and screams i heard coming from the field.
As soon as the sun went down we headed back home. We figured it would be easier for Avery to drive at night and possibly fall asleep on the way home. We were wrong. Up the whole time.

Since it was a last minute decision to go to Mesquite, I had already bought all the food for our own Thanksgiving dinner. So we decided to make our own on Saturday.
Avery even wanted to have her own Martinellis.
Leftovers are the best.
We sure did have a good thanksgiving this year. We really did miss our "family" Thanksgivings we have been used to in Lincoln. Although during those years we were away from blood family, we had the best Lincoln/Law School Family on Thanksgiving. We loved those years.
